![]() ![]() MiniTool Partition Wizard Free Edition supports, according the the website, Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista (older OS versions are mentioned, but are no more relevant, because Microsoft has stopped Support for Windows 2000 or Windows XP years ago). The Free Edition of this tool is offered for private and non commercial use at this website. But I wasn't fully satisfied – so I gave Mini Tool Partition Wizard Free a shot. There are other third party partition tools (see EaseUS Partition Master 10.8 with GPT bug fix). As shown in a blog post tomorrow, Windows Disk Management has also a few bugs that could lead into trouble. But changing partitions without loosing data are not supported. The Windows Disk Management tool or the command diskpart provides basic partition features. Be aware that partitioning and formatting erase all the data on your media so be sure to back it up somewhere before proceeding.Sometimes users are in need to repartitioning disks in Windows. To use the MiniTool Partition Wizard, you need to select the drive or partition you want to change and either right-click on it or use the menu items listed at the top of the application to select your changes and then click on the “Apply” button located at the bottom left of the screen. The application shows you how each of your storage devices is divided up, the file system that each device uses, the drive letters for each, and the used and unused portions, etc., all at a glance. It’s a wonderful, really handy, easy-to-use tool that will help you resize, split, or merge partitions and format your media as FAT32, exFAT, NTFS, Ext2, Ext3, Ext4 (the free version does other things too, but some of the features are only available with the paid versions). ![]() I’ve been using it for years and haven’t looked back.
